Some strains are legends, and Staten Island Chem is one of them. A true outlier in the cannabis world, this strain pushes the limits of what you think you know about gas. Sour Diesel? It’s got more sour. Chemdawg? It’s got more gas. This clone-only wonder has become a favorite in Stoney’s circle for its power and potency that transcends what you’d expect from a traditional Chem or Diesel hybrid. Staten Island Chem’s roots trace back to the early ’90s, born from an unusual encounter in the world of debt collection. An older relative of Stoney’s was sent to a grow-op to recover overdue payments, only to leave with more than expected. After a series of unfortunate events (including a compound fracture), the entire grow-op was seized, and the plants became the property of those involved. Uninterested in the plants, they were handed over to a family friend, where they lingered for years. As Stoney turned 18, the cut was shared with him, becoming the foundation of what we now know as Staten Island Chem. While no one is officially claiming the cut, it became affectionately known as “Stoney’s Staten Island Chem” due to its unique properties. Phyllos testing revealed that it’s a precursor to the Chems, though whether it’s “Momma Chem” remains a mystery. What we do know is that it’s one of the most gassy strains ever shared within the community.

Stoney, working closely with Drtyhnds, identified the perfect S1 for breeding, a terp profile that matched the original clone and even enhanced it with more frost. The S1, being much younger, displayed exceptional vigor and health, which Stoney was eager to preserve.
