Black Lime Reserve

LINEAGE: (Northern Lights × Purple Kush) × Chemdawg Special Reserve
BREEDER: Bodhi Seeds (selected and popularized by Mean Gene From Mendocino)
TYPE: Clone-Only

Northern Mendocino doesn’t produce soft plants. It produces survivors.

Black Lime Reserve came out of that environment — selected and popularized by Mean Gene From Mendocino, working from Bodhi Seeds stock. The lineage traces to Northern Lights × Purple Kush crossed into Chemdawg Special Reserve. On paper it reads like weight and fuel. In practice, it became something darker and more nuanced.

Mean Gene hunted through Bodhi’s work looking for depth — not candy, not flash, but layered complexity. The keeper cut that became Black Lime Reserve leaned into its Kush spine while expressing a sharp, almost exotic citrus note that didn’t fit the usual lemon or lime mold. It wasn’t sweet lime. It was black lime — dried citrus peel, bitter zest, dark spice. The name stuck because nothing else described it correctly.

The high doesn’t rush you. It settles in deliberately. There’s an early cerebral tightening behind the eyes — focused but heavy — followed by a deepening physical gravity that spreads into the shoulders and lower back. It’s strong without being chaotic. No race. No panic. Just pressure and presence. In higher doses it becomes sedative, especially late evening. Appetite climbs steadily. Conversation slows. This is not background smoke.

The terp profile is where it separates itself. Sharp citrus zest layered over earthy Kush, pine resin, and a chem-leaning backend from the Special Reserve side. Break a nug and you get dark lime oil, pepper, and fuel. Caryophyllene and limonene tend to lead, supported by myrcene and pinene. It’s loud, but not sugary. More incense and rind than fruit salad.

Structurally, Black Lime Reserve grows stout with strong lateral branching and dense, spear-shaped tops. Internodes are moderate. She can express deep greens with flashes of purple under cooler temperatures. Resin production is heavy and consistent, coating calyx heads and pushing outward onto sugar leaves. Flower time usually runs 9–10 weeks indoors for full terp development. Early harvest sacrifices depth — patience is rewarded.

Growers who ran it in Northern California still talk about how the smell would drift long before harvest. It wasn’t flashy purple Instagram bud. It was jar weed. The kind you open once and remember. The kind that doesn’t need explanation.

Black Lime Reserve didn’t become respected because it was trendy. It earned respect because it carried weight — in structure, in terp profile, and in effect. It’s Kush refined, Chem sharpened, and Mendocino selected.

This isn’t daytime citrus. It’s evening citrus with teeth.
